Club Legends

This page pays tribute to those loyal servants who down the years have really made a difference to the club, both on and off the pitch (appearences and goals as of May 2007)

Sam Brasier - Sam has been First team top scorer 3 times with best goal haul coming in the 98/99 season when he notched 30 goals. He was part of the Greens 1st team side that won promotion to Division 1 in 02/03 and his goals were a major contributing factor towards this. Sam is now club treasurer and is still playing, although not as quick as he once was he still knows how to find the back of the net.

Andy Brown - Club stalwart who left at the end of the 05/06 season to persue his dream of playing for his local team, Fairfield. ‘Brownie’ was a loyal servant to the Green and over the years has been been manager of the First, Second and Third teams aswell as club secretary. Brownies inspirational team talks were infamous for the simple fact that he normally performed them in little more than his football boots, socks and shin pads.

Michael Everest - Mick is not only the clubs all time top scorer he also holds the most appearences. Mick has been heavily involved with the club for a number of years as Treasurer. Despite now being in his 40s is still a vital member of the playing staff and regularly notches with his trademark headers. Mick has had many fine seasons but one that stands out would be the 96/97 campaign when he scored 27 goals for the First team from centre midfield.

Justin Morris - Started of as Striker but gradually, down the years worked his way back to centre half. Scored some spectacular goals down the years and certainly would never let anyone forget that. Has been first team manager, club secretary and just about every other role at the club at some point. Justin has rejoined again this season to have another go at success with the first team.

Declan Murphy - Declan joined the Green as a fresh legged 16 year old back in 1994. Along with Smiffy and a young Simon Sheeran he played for the reserves, scoring lots of goals along the way. Declan naturally progressed to the First team and his pace and occasional clinical finishing meant he scored plenty of goals, he was First team top scorer 2 seasons running in 99/00 and 00/01 with 21 goals then 13 goals respectively. Unfortunatly Declans latter years at the club often saw him played out of position and the goals didnt flow so frequently.

Andrew Charles Smith - Well, where do you begin! Smiffy joined the Green when he was 16, played in the Seconds for a few years made the step up to the First team with ease and was a very solid right back for a number of years. He was First team player of the year in 1999/00 and formed a very solid understanding with Raggsy who played on the right wing that year (this was when they could both run at a reasonable speed). Smiffy took a stab at management when he took the reigns of the Second team for the 2003/04 season. His persuasive way convinced a number of players to leave other clubs in higher divisions and play in Division 7, the result was that the Seconds won the title with ease. The following season Smiffy took over as First team manager but couldnt repeat the success of the previous year. He has been in the Thirds for the last couple of seasons, and is still the clubs dressing room clown!

John Truran - Salmon, as John is more commonly known, has a real passion for the club. He has had many fine seasons both up front and in goal. He was top scorer for the Second team in 99/00 but returned to keep goal for the First team during our promotion season of 02/03. He is now the Second team manager and his tactical nous has certainly turned our stiffs into an outfit to be recond with. "Salmons ball, Salmons ball, oh pooh..."
